US Open Badminton 2024: Trisa-Gayatri, Priyanshu Rajawat to be in charge

The youth women’s doubles pair of Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will lead the Indian charge at the US Open Badminton, a BWF World Tour Super 300 event starting Tuesday at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Texas. Most of the top Indian shuttlers decided to give the tournament a miss as they focused on preparations for the Paris Olympics. Entering the tournament as the second seeded pair, Trisa and Gayatri are among the favorites to win the title. Their main competition could be against Rin Iwanaga and Japan’s top seed Ki Nakanishi. In the men’s singles category, Priyanshu Rajawat advanced after Kidambi Srikanth’s withdrawal. As the eighth seed, Rajawat will lead India’s challenge in the men’s singles, hoping to improve deep into the US Open Badminton tournament. Other Indian players in the men’s singles competition included Ayush Shetty and S. Shankar Subramanian included. In the qualification round, Kartik Gulshan Kumar will face Myanmar’s Phon Paye Naing. This match is crucial for Karthikeya as he looks to advance to the main draw. Malvika Bansud will lead India’s challenge in the women’s singles category as the seventh seed. Tanya Hemant is the other Indian women’s singles player in this event. The pairing of Sai Prateek and Krishna Prasad Garaga will carry India’s hopes in men’s doubles. As the sixth seed, they are the only Indian representative in the division and will look to live up to their seeding with a strong performance.
