Thailand Open Live 2024, Men’s Doubles Final Badminton Live: Satviksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat the Chinese pair of Chen Bo Yang and Liu Ye 21-15, 21-15 in the Thailand Open final. It is a tournament that holds a special place in the careers of Satvik and Chirag as they won the title in 2019 for their maiden Superseries / Super 500 level win. And on Sunday they won their Thailand Open Live title.

With this win, Satwik-Chiragrao is all set to regain the world number one ranking.

In the top-flight clash, the Indians continued their dominance that was seen throughout the week, as they finished the tournament without dropping a game.

The world number three Indian pair, who are top seeds in the tournament, won their second World Tour title of 2024 with victory at the French Open in March.

Unlike their thrilling run in 2019, however, it’s been smooth sailing this week. The pairs they beat before the final, barring a game, were ranked 71, 69, 64 and 80 in the world. The most points they have scored in a game is 16. They would maintain that status, defeating world number 29 Chen-Liu in a match where even the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story, testing them.

  1. Thailand Open Live 2024 What is the best thing about Matthias Boe as a coach?

Sethi: He is very tactically strong and systematic. So we don’t have to concern about planning. It is always in place. He is just very professional. Mathias himself was a much more defensive player than us, even though he was taller. But it was not as destructive as ours. He taught us to use the power and skill to drive a shuttle. It’s really small tips.

Rankireddy: In planning, he is very smart on the court. He helped us play the mental game, while earlier Malaysian, Indonesian coaches were more about the physical game. At that time we were stuck in the range of 7 or 8 in the world. With Bowe, we became No. 5 and Top 3 and at last No. 1. He emphasizes the small details and is disciplined and professional. For the past three years, he has trained us to sleep on time, eat well. He is mentally strong and big on being in control. Regarding discipline, I learned that if he says 8.30, I try to be there at 8.29. If we’re late, he’ll let it go one day, but the next time, it’ll be a bang-bang-bang reprimand. Technically, he made us smarter – don’t do more than necessary. Good serving and receiving, and take the points in the first two strokes.

Thailand Open Live 2024 : Supanida Kathethong and Lee Ji Jia win singles title

For Supanida Kathethong, a great home win. He is of course coached by Sindh’s former mentor Kim Ji Hyun.

For Lee, the first title of 2024. At the India Open earlier this year, he was quite outspoken.

The sword hanging over Lee’s head is often compared to Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia’s all-time great, for whom he is seen as the heir apparent. An All England win in 2021 raised expectations, as did an Asian title in 2022 that seemed like vindication for his move to become independent. But big success has been elusive ever since.

“As the Malaysian No.1, people always compare you to Chong Wei. So I can’t get rid of it. Only if I change my country, it’s impossible,” he joked. “So, this is something I have to face for my entire career. If I fail, then I fail. So it’s either success or failure. Me. This pressure has to be faced.”

This is what the Indian duo had to say in a recent interview to The Indian Express about becoming world no.

Sethi: Feels good. Ten years ago, nobody thought this was possible for Indians. But becoming world number 1 has always been a dream. The title is definitely more important, but it just shows consistency. Many people in the circuit said that they never expected an Indian pair to be No. 1 and win the title. But we can’t be satisfied even if it’s 10 weeks to complete No.1. But we should ask, why not Indians? We don’t lack physicality, we just need ability and it is possible to be the best in the world.

Rankireddy: Being World No. 1 is pretty cool. But it’s normal, I’m happy, but we want to stay in that rank. Be more consistent. We always want to win the tournament. But 100 percent win is not, here and there we fall short.

Thailand Open Live 2024:

“Thailand Open was a especial tournament for us as we won our 1st Super 500 crown here and won many more tournaments after that. We are hoping that this win will herald another victory for us,” said Satvik after winning the crown.

Talking about their performance in the final, Satvik said they played their best game against their Chinese opponents. “We knew we couldn’t relax for even a single point against our opponents because they fight to the end. But we played our best game of the tournament today and regulable the situation very well,” he added.
