Time will tell if this is another dream team, but the roster of the United States men’s basketball team for the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris was officially released today, April 17.
The men’s team has a storied history at the Olympics, and this year’s squad is looking to defend the gold medal Team USA won at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
You could say the U.S. has a stranglehold on gold: It won 16 gold medals and was the top team at each of the 2004 Games, when Argentina stunned the U.S. in the semifinals en route to claiming the gold medal.
“These guys are up for the challenge. And they know what’s at stake,” Team USA managing director Grant Hill told TODAY(Team USA Men’s Basketball roster announced).

James will be playing in his fourth Olympics. He won the bronze medal in 2004 and gold in 2008 and 2012.
Curry, meanwhile, has enjoyed a decorated career, but this will mark his first appearance at an Olympics.
Durant gets a chance to make history when he takes the court in Paris. He is one of two players, along with Carmelo Anthony, to win three gold medals in men’s basketball and could become the first to win a fourth.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who has led his team to four NBA titles, will be in Paris. Head coach Steve Kerr was an assistant on the 2021 basketball team that won gold in Tokyo.

USA Basketball unveiled the player roster Wednesday for the men’s team that will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Three years after the Tokyo Olympics saw several top U.S. players pull out of the Games amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2024 edition of the “Dream Team” will once again feature a roster loaded with future Hall of Famers and more. Bright young star of basketball.
The team will be anchored by Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, making his 4th appearance after skipping the past 2 Olympics.
James, 39, has previously brought home two golds (2008, 2012) and a bronze (2004).
James will be joined by his Lakers teammate Anthony Davis, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards, Los Angeles Clippers. ‘Kawhi Leonard, Tyrese Halliburton of the Indiana Pacers and Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat.
This will be the 36-year-old Curry’s first Olympic Games, making him the fifth player to represent the Warriors at the Olympics with Team USA.
The squad will also feature Philadelphia 76ers’ big man and reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid, who is slated to make his Olympic debut for the United States.
