Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the Scorchers aimed to secure seventh place to avoid facing the London Lions in the quarter-final playoff series. However, the team performed poorly in the final stretch and managed to win just once last month(Surrey Scorchers vs Leicester Raiders). Now, they are in the eighth position and facing a strong team in the playoffs is inevitable. Interestingly, Surrey lost 97-85 to their future playoff opponents a few days ago.

Leicester were ultimately hopeful of a slip-up on their rivals for fourth place. However, they themselves stumbled and remained out of contention. Their recent defeat against the lowly Manchester giants virtually guarantees that the Raiders will never climb higher than sixth in the regular Championship standings (Surrey Scorchers vs Leicester Raiders). Hence, Leicester will face third-placed Caledonia in the quarter-finals of the play-offs.

Cavender twins are back

The Cavinda sisters are back together.

Haley and Hannah Cavinder will play basketball together for the last time after the twins announced they will return to the University of Miami for their final college basketball season.

On Wednesday, Hanna Cavinder said in a social media post that she will return to play for the Hurricanes after a one-year absence from the game.

“For the past few months I’ve been itching to get back into the sport I’ve lost my passion for,” he said.

A day later, Haley Cavinder revealed that she would be joining her sister in Miami, a reversal after she announced her commitment to TCU in November.

“There is nothing more important than family and the bond I share with my twin sister,” Haley Cavinder said in a social media post Thursday. “Having the chance to play together one more time is something I can’t pass up. I’m excited for this upcoming season and can’t wait to play at the U.”

Also known as the “Queens of the NIL,” the Cavinder twins are one of the most popular duos in college sports due to their rise to fame and being among the first athletes to capitalize on the era of name, image and likeness.

The Twins played their 1st season of college basketball in 2019 at Fresno State, where they played for 3basketball seasons. In 2022, they moved to Miami and had a successful season in Coral Gables. The Hurricanes reached the Elite 8 for the 1st time in school history, where they lost to eventual national champion LSU.

Following the 2022–23 season, Hanna Cavinder decided to retire from basketball, while Haley Cavinder announced her transfer to play at TCU for the 2024–25 season. Since deciding to leave basketball, Cavinders has been busy partnering with several companies while pursuing other endeavors. The two signed a contract with WWE and have been training for a possible in-ring career at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

In their final season, Haley Cavinder started every game for Miami and averaged a team-high 12.2 points and 4.9 rebounds as she was named to the All-ACC second team.

The Cavinda sisters are back together-This past season, Miami went 19-12 and missed the NCAA Tournament of this seasons. Katie Meyer retired after 19 seasons with the Hurricanes and former Toledo head coach Tricia Kulp was hired to lead the team.
