Hardik Pandya is the first Indian to be ranked number 1 among T20 all-rounders, according to the latest ICC rankings. He moved up two places to join Sri Lanka captain Wanindu Hasaranga after his all-round contribution to India’s successful T20 World Cup campaign, where they went unbeaten to lift the trophy.

Pandya scored 144 runs at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 151 while taking 11 wickets at 17.36 in the West Indies and USA. This included a match-winning haul of 3 for 20 in the final against South Africa, which India won by seven runs to lift the trophy. Pandya’s best performance with the bat in the World Cup came against Bangladesh, as he scored 50* off 27 balls.

His teammate Jasprit Bumrah, the World Twenty20 Player of the Series, has already made a big gain in the bowlers’ rankings.

Bumrah climbed 12 places to 12th with 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy of just 4.17. With South Africa needing just 30 runs from the last five overs in the final, it was Bumrah’s late spell that helped turn the game around for India.

Other Indian players include left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, who took ten wickets at 13.90 at the World Cup, as he moved up three places to joint-eighth among bowlers. Arshdeep Singh, the joint-highest wicket-taker in the competition with 17 wickets, moved up four places to a career-best 13. Meanwhile, South African pacer Enrich Nortze moved seven places to become their career highest wicket-taker at the World Cup at No.2. He has 15 wickets at an average of 13.40 and an economy of 5.74. Hardik Pandya is the first Indian to be ranked number 1 among T20 all-rounders.
