New York Yankees Latest News: The New York Post Jon Heyman

It looks like the best-case scenario for Yankees and slugger Giancarlo Stanton is that he’ll miss about four weeks with a hamstring injury sustained running the bases Saturday. There’s no way for New York to make up for the loss, as Stanton was a legitimate power threat this season, lengthening the lineup considerably. Now we wait and see how the New York Yankees adjust to his absence and what the offense does without him.

Stanton was officially placed in the IL and Oswald Peraza came up from Triple-A to replace him. However, it looked like it was always going to be a short-lived stint, as manager Aaron Boone hinted that Peraza was only a day player. In fact, right around the first pitch, news broke that the Yankees had acquired former infielder JD Davis from the A’s in a short trade. As, Peraja went right down. Check out Kunz’s post for more and look for Davis to make his Yankees debut against his old team, the Mets, on Tuesday in Queens.

New York Yankees Latest News CBS Sports:

Speaking of injuries, right-hander JT Brubaker made his first rehab start a few days ago. It was his first appearance in nearly two years since Tommy John surgery. Brubaker pitched in Low-A and threw three innings, striking out two and allowing no runs. He still has a ways to go, but it appears Brubaker, who the Yankees acquired from Pittsburgh, could be a second-half rotation option if all goes well.

New York Yankees Latest News: The New York Post Steve Sarby:

Ben Rice recently made his Yankees debut and his dad is proud of him. In this part of the post, Ben’s father Dan reminisces about Ben’s path on the show. My inner Canadian is quite happy with the news that Ben’s path to athletics began on the ice, strapped on a pair of skates at the age of two. But my pretty obvious inner Yankees fan is now thrilled to see Ben plying his trade in the Bronx while Anthony Rizzo recovers.
