“I’m bringing six to seven” – Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand turns her kit bag

Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand and doubles partner Trisa withdrew from the Uber Cup due to injuries.

Indian badminton star Gayatri Gopichand recently gave an interview to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), where she revealed that she carries around six to seven rackets with her for various tournaments.

And today, I’m going to show you what’s in my bag. So, I have the bottle. A banana, keep eating. I also have accreditation card. I just broke a racket.

He was later asked about the number of rackets he brought with him during tournaments, to which he replied, “I usually bring six to seven.” He then continued, “And I have my wallet. I think I have a watch. Oh yeah, it’s my favorite watch. So yeah, that’s it.”

The Uber Cup is set to begin on April 27 in Chengdu, China. India have been drawn in Group A alongside Canada, Singapore and hosts China. However, the duo of Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand and Tresa Jolly withdrew from the tournament due to injury concerns.

India announced a young squad which includes Anmol Kharab, Tanvi Sharma, Asmita Chaliha, Isharani Barua, Shruti Mishra, Priya Konjengbam, Simran Singhi and Ritika Thackeray.

Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand, daughter of 2001 All England Open winner Pullela Gopichand, is one of the rising stars on the Indian scene. Paired with Teresa Jolly, she reached the quarterfinals of the French Open last month. After defeating Tanisha Krasto and Ashwini Ponnappa in the first round, they lost to the likes of seventh seeds Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota of Japan.

It’s been almost two years since Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand and Jolly started playing together, and since then, the Indian duo has reached the semifinals of the All-England Open twice (2022 and 2023) and won bronze at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The Indian women’s team won a historic gold medal at the Badminton Asia Team Championship. Moreover, they reached their career best position pf WR-14 last year.

However, Indian shuttler Gayatri Gopichand-Trisa are struggling with their form in 2024 After losing their first match at the Spain Masters, the Indian pair suffered a disappointing straight games defeat against China’s Sheng Shu Lui and Ning Tan at the Badminton Asia Championship last week.
