Golf club png an anonymous tip led the Environment Agency (EA) to around 700 lorry-loads of waste being illegally dumped at Rasper Golf Club near Dorking.
Rusper Leisure’s planning permission was to raise part of an embankment 2 meters above the driving range but allowed only clear soil to be used. Jamie Hamilton, senior environmental crime officer, said: “Companies need to ensure that any tipping of EA waste is pre-approved. Golf club png cook & Son and Bell & Sons, both established operators, can go onto the golf course without any meaningful checks.”
Golf club png the EA said when it interviewed Rasper Leisure’s company secretary Sarah Blunden she told investigators she did not know an EA permit was required for the work and that planning permission was sufficient.
Duncan Bell, a director at Bell & Sons, told the EA that he did not check the permit requirements after planning permission was granted.
Christopher Cook of Cook & Son admitted that his drivers had left waste on the course and that he took no further action beyond asking Bell if the site was legal for that purpose.
