The Seminoles (27-4) are coming off a great series win at Boston College, winning the first and third matchups by a combined score of 21-6. FSU opened last week with wins at home against Bethune-Cookman and Jacksonville and enters the Florida game with a 4-1 record over its past five games.
The Gators (17-14) dropped from No. 6 to No. 24 in the D1Baseball Top 25 following a three-game series loss to Missouri in Columbia. The first game was hard fought, going 11 innings before Mizzou managed to win it 2-1. The next two games were also close, with the Gators losing both, 4-3 and 11-10.
FSU and Florida played most recently on March 26, with the Seminoles coming out on top 14-3 in the eight-inning feature. Daniel Cantu and Drew Faurot drove in five runs in the contest for FSU, and Jack Caglianon had two of the Gators’ three hits and three Florida RBIs in the contest.
Rival Florida State leads the series with 133 wins, 127 losses and one tie. The Gators, however, have won three of the last five meetings, with the Seminoles winning the two most recent matchups.
