After their Rugby World Cup disappointment last year, Andy Farrell’s side are fired up and  searching to shake off the memory of their quarter-final loss to New Zealand.

They head to Twickenham today in search of their 2nd Grand Slam on the trot – a feat that has yet to be achieved in the 6 Nations. Elsewhere in Round 4, Scotland move  to Rome to face Italy and Wales take on France in Cardiff.

Scotland’s hosts Italy in Rome were buoyed by their draw with France final  out. The Azzurri were denied a historic victory over Les Bleus in heartbreaking fashion when Paolo Gerbisi’s last-minute penalty hit the post.

Scotland are still in with an outside chance of the Six Nations title – although they have to give England an advantage against Ireland – and will be confident going into the clash having secured Calcutta Cup bragging rights for the final  time.

The hosts will be looking to avoid a potential wooden spoon decider with Wales next holiday, so there is plenty to play for in the Eternal City.

England v Ireland, 4.45pm, Twickenham

ITV1 from 4.20pm

France, Italy and Wales have just thrown down a gauntlet for Andy Farrell in the first 3 rounds of the competition and Borthwick’s side will be hoping to crush their resistance. Still, the visitors remain firm favorites and will be hoping to see the Irish win on Saturday night. Warren Gatland pulled a few surprises with his team selection in midweek, with a new midfield combination to start against Les Bleus. Coming in are Joe Roberts and Wayne Watkin, with the established duo of Nick Tompkins and George North completely jettisoned from Match Day 23. Captain Dafydd Jenkins has also been changed to 6 to accommodate the physicality of Will Rowlands.

France also made a number of changes – eight in fact – with three debutants also making their senior bows. Full-back Leo Bare, center Nicolas Deporte and giant lock Emmanuel Mefou will all make their Test debuts in Cardiff, while Tomas Ramos switches from full-back to fly-half for the injured Mathieu Jalibert.

The Azzurri overcame Gregor Townsend’s men 31-29 in the first game of the day, declare victory in a dramatic clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Ireland’s quest for a 2nd consecutive Grand Slam was nullified by England in the 2nd game, with Marcus Smith slotting an injury-time drop-goal to secure an unexpected 23-22 win.

A 23-22 win through Marcus Smith’s last-gasp drop goal means England will battle for the Guinness 6 Nations title on ‘Super Saturday’ when they face France in Lyon.

All aspects of England’s game came together at Twickenham on an impressive afternoon where their skill and intent were matched by a determination, and Lawrence admitted the display was fueled by their blunders in Scotland’s 3rd round.
