The Trade Market page pushed me to include him in this article. The 26-year-old could be marketed as someone in his prime who has been capped by a career .295 hitter and a .244 BABIP thus far. Everything in the previous sentence is true, but Bichette might not have enough category juice to wait for his heat.
The shortstop is in the midst of a four-year slump in home run production, and he doesn’t steal bases at a high enough rate to make a difference in this steal-heavy landscape. His average exodus velocity and hard-hit rate are also trending in the wrong direction. Finally, Bichette’s counting stats are dragged down by the fact that the Blue Jays offense isn’t nearly as strong as it was a few years ago.

Randy Arrozarena (OF, Tampa Bay Rays)
Simply put, Arozarena can’t be that bad. The outfielder has the third-lowest batting average of any qualified player, which can largely be attributed to a .178 BABIP. He deserves blame for logging a 29.3% strikeout rate that is higher than the previous year, but his batted-ball data is mostly consistent with past results. Having reached the 20-20 plateau in each of the past three seasons, the 29-year-old is clearly someone who can make a huge impact if things go right. The assumption here is that Arozrena can be acquired for a big discount in many leagues and get his season back on track soon.

Dalton Varsho (OF, Toronto Blue Jays)
It’s a simple thing. Varsho is an obvious sell-high candidate on the strength of his 6 homers, 3 steals and career-high .833 OPS. He also ranks among the best defensive outfielders in baseball this year, which helps keep his bat in the lineup. However, a look under the hood on the Monsoon is quite worrying.
The slugger thus logged an even lower average exit velocity (86.5 mph) than last year. His strikeout rate is up a bit as well, and his .190 xBA is the lowest of any eligible player via Statcast. Barsho could bring a decent trade return now — but might not even be playable by June.

Juan Soto (OF, New York Yankees)
This one will not be cheap. But as I mentioned last week, making huge 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 offers should be part of the early season playbook. Soto and the Yankees are the perfect match many hoped for. The 25-year-old has been one of the best hitters in baseball for several years, and looks set to have a career year while on the brink of free agency. With Yankee Stadium and Aaron Judge at his side, Soto could finish the year with career-best marks in homers, RBIs and runs scored.

Marte shouldn’t cost a luck on the trade market, as he profiles as a boring veteran who produces a good-not-great stat line. And while the previous comments are correct, and the 30-year-old is playing the best baseball of his career right now. Marte is hitting .306 without the help of a high BABIP, and with Corbin Carroll gone, he’s become the most important hitter in a solid Arizona lineup. Acquiring Marte isn’t the move that will win your league, but he can be an important piece of the puzzle.
