Coach John Dobson feels they are now back on track, sitting fifth in the table after beating Irish powerhouse Leinster 42-12.
“The previous tour was at the start of the season,” said Dobson, referring to the winless tour after four matches.
“We knew we had to come home and catch up. Ospreys loss at home hit us right. We are now at a tipping point. The downside to that result against the Ospreys is that we’re looking for a home play-off, two points behind the Bulls at the weekend. It’s pretty much irreversible.”
The Stormers will have a week off before embarking on a two-week tour of the UK and Ireland, facing the Dragons in Newport then Connacht in Galway.
“Now, it’s definitely a winning tour. We have never felt before, our level of despair. We’re taking our springboks. It will be a different mindset from the first visit. It’s a full metal jacket to try to win every game.”
The match started with star Springbok Damien Willems delivering a scoring pass to Englishman Ben Loader and ended with 2019 Rugby World Cup winner Warwick Gallant providing a dummy for the era.
