Elena Rybakina is not someone who likes to listen to herself. Elena keeps things short and sweet and that’s how she plays tennis.
The first Kazakhstani tennis player to win a major tournament, she is one of the most exciting players on the WTP tour right now and her service game is unique in the women’s game. Elina started playing tennis at the age of five at home in Kazakhstan. It was a good compromise for his parents. They were considering a future as a figure skater or gymnast, but she was too tall for either, so tennis became her sport and success quickly followed on the court. As a junior, he had impressive victories around the world and in 2017 he reached the semi-finals of both the Australian and French Opens.
Elena’s ultimate goal is to become world number one in tennis, but she already knows how to win major tournaments, perhaps the most famous of which is the Grand Slam Wimbledon.
His breathtaking winning streak at the famous grass court tournament in London in the summer of 2022 ended with a career-defining victory in the final of Wan Jabeur. It was his first title at one of the four major tournaments, as well as the first for a Kazakhstani player, and marked the beginning of a highly successful period in his career.
She reached the final of the Australian Open in early 2023, where she lost to world number two Aryna Sabalenka in three hard-fought sets, but then won two important Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Rome. Big chunks of the season kick off even.
The 2020 top 20 marked Elina’s place in the WTA Global Rankings, and she finished 2021 at world number 14 before returning to the top three in the summer of 2023. So, what next?
“I want to go back to what I had before,” he says, meaning his Wimbledon win, and another major title is definitely around the corner.
