Team MALTA is excited and ready to deliver an memorable experience as the Badminton Malta International Tournament will represent Malta on their home ground between 3rd and 5th November 2023.
Badminton Malta International Tournament:
This event promises to showcase the game with the participation of small eight
Badminton countries of Europe. Gibraltar, Greenland, Iceland, Isle of
Man, Liechtenstein and Malta will enjoy intense and exciting competition over the weekend
The first international team event was held in Malta.
In the preliminary round the teams will be divided into two groups to play each other in a round-
On a round robin basis. According to their placement in the group, the event will change in format
Playoff format, where teams then play for a place in the finals and decide their finals
Positions Each tie will consist of 5 matches, Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s
Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

The Badminton Team Championship was a successful one. The idea of bringing the little ones together
The first European states for a badminton event came in 2017 during a Badminton Europe
Congress in Prague.
“Malta, Cyprus and Monaco discussed the truth that badminton is not a sport
Considered for the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), rendered every two years and we
Agreed that we should try to organize an event independently by engaging with others
the country
“So, after six years, the event is finally happening and we are eagerly waiting
For starters to welcome our badminton friends from other small European countries
tournament in two months.”

After months of hard work, preparations for the opening ceremony are finally taking shape.
Cottonera for the Badminton Malta International Tournament:
As the first shuttle takes off on Friday morning, it will not only mark the start of the first edition in Malta but also usher in a new era of opportunity for all participating countries.
Team Malta will open the competition against Gibraltar at 10:30am at the Cottonera Sports Complex. Entry to all matches is free.
With the draw for the competition announced, we are now just one step away from making our dream a reality.
Badminton enthusiasts are gearing up for a thrilling showdown as Badminton Malta, the host of the Badminton Malta international tournament, announces the International Tournament at the Cottonera Sports Complex. Scheduled to take place from Thursday to Sunday, this prestigious event is set to attract attention from across the globe.
A total of 210 players from 35 countries will participate in the tournament, adding a diverse and competitive edge to the proceedings. Among the competitors, the spotlight shines on the Maltese team, led by none other than national champion Matthew Haynes.
